Arrest Record

If you’ve been charged with a crime and the charges against you were dismissed, stayed or withdrawn, you have a criminal record. The following information is still kept on file:

  • A record indicating that a charge was filed against you.
  • Your fingerprints
  • Photos of you.
  • Other information that was disclosed when you were arrested.

We can petition the arresting police force to destroy all files relating to your case and remove your criminal record from the CPIC database.

Our fee is $200, including GST. We have monthly payment options to fit your budget.

Purge

A conditional or absolute discharge is granted if you are found guilty of a crime, but a conviction is not registered against you due to special circumstances. If this happened to you, you still have a criminal record. We can apply to have your records purged. Purges usually take 4 to 6 months.

Purge facts:
  • Absolute discharges occurring after July 24, 1992, are automatically removed from your criminal record one year from the date of the sentence.
  • Conditional discharges occurring after July 24, 1992, are automatically removed from your criminal record 3 years following the date of the sentence.
  • Absolute and conditional discharges received prior to July 24, 1992, require a purge application to the RCMP Purge Unit to remove them from your record.

Our fee is $200, including GST. We have monthly payment options to fit your budget.

If your record includes discharges coupled with other convictions, you will need to apply for a pardon.
